We started in 1991 when founder Mark Carter had the vision to create an instant shelter that could be set up and taken down quickly and easily. As an avid outdoorsman himself, Mark understood the importance of having portable shade readily available for all of life's adventures. After months of designing, prototyping, and testing various concepts in his garage workshop, he finally created the first Quik Shade instant canopy featuring an innovative pull-pin slider system that allowed legs to extend and retract in one swift motion.
When Mark demoed his invention at a local sporting goods tradeshow, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Retailers and consumers alike were amazed by how fast and simple it was to put up, immediately recognizing its unlimited potential for activities like camping, tailgating, festivals, and beach days. This initial success launched what would become one of North America's top-selling brands for canopies and portable seating.
